About the quilt
All the materials were specially chosen.
Some of the fabrics include a design of "heart prints".
These were specially included with Jan (Eli's mum) in mind.
The edging is inspired by Eli's love of graffiti.
The
purple backing was inspired by a dark and stormy sea, as well as being one
of Eli's favourite colours.
The ochre orange around his face is inspired by the St Albans bush (where
Eli grew up), and used to highlight his features.
The tiny different coloured patches used to illustrate his face are a bunch of 12 different designs, put together like an extremly intricate puzzle or tiny mosaic tiles.
They include, amongst others, 8 different designs with flowers and foliage on them, inspired by Joel's love of gardening (Eli's brother).
Another type has tiny letters and numbers on them, representative of Eli's name and age.
